Kenya Team’s first visit to Theta

So yesterday was all about visiting Watu wa Maana and interviewing all the children. Today we headed along the mud tracks to Theta – about an hour on very dodgy roads to an area of housing near the river served by dusty roads. Then we turned the corner to where the Good Neighbours church building is (also the main hall for El Shaddai School during the week). A lovely crowd of church members met us and welcomed us. This was quite overwhelming – especially for Liberty.

Then church happened. Songs, talks, notices, greetings … and Sharon shared a word from the Bible. Great fun!

Once the church service was over we spent time there with everybody. Lots of chats and planning for the following week.

The afternoon we headed back to Ruiru and spent more time with the children at Watu wa Maana. Crafts and nail painting. More good fun. Ruth, Caroline and Liberty teaching what they knew. Liberty is an expert at making Craz-y-band friendship bracelets and we took loads of materials with us.

Then back to the accommodation and trying to get started with putting the children's data into the computer. Ruth and Sharon concentrated on this while it was suggested Liberty got some sleep. This turned into Liberty singing loudly all the songs she knows!

We have some great photos, but are still finding internet access complicated to set up. Something is wrong with our mifi! So we will send photos another day. For now you'll have to imagine them.
