In less than 12 hours the July 2012 team of 10 will be leaving for Tanzania to visit the Grassroots project in Mbeya. This is later in the year than normal as we’ve been asked to host a team of 20 young people and their teachers from Bishop Luffa secondary school in Chichester. They will be joining with us for 8 days.
Including them, this makes a team that is our largest one to date. So we are in for a very busy time. The team in Mbeya have a number of activities for us to help with which include making pig pens and delivering pigs to help families become more self sufficient. We will also a take children to a conservation park to see some of the animals in their country that they have never seen themselves. There is also a group that will deliver mattresses to homes (essential if a mosquito net is to work) and set up home water-filters. Around all this we will interview several hundred children on the child-sponsorship scheme. It will be a packed programme and we would really appreciate your prayers.
We set off from Gatwick Airport on Friday at 10:55 am arriving at 02:45 (Saturday) in Dar es Salaam. There will be no time to sleep in a hostel as our bus will leave Dar at 06:00 Saturday morning for the 13 hour trip to Mbeya.
This is a grueling schedule to say the least!
