Today started with sad news. One of our little girls on the sponsorship scheme died this morning. In fact, before we had reached the Grassroots centre we had heard of three deaths. Sometimes the smiling faces and cheerful laughter hide the pain that is all around just under the surface.
Today we were interviewing all the secondary students about to take exams. It was wonderful to see some of our university students doing so well and with a brighter future. The Bishop Luffa School team spent time painting the dispensary and taking out trees on the Grassroots farm. This is a large plot of land where we are developing a farm plus giving allotments to people without land so that they can grow their own.
Then, of course, there was the ever popular pig delivery.
Saturday is the day we feed all the 2300+ children on the sponsorship scheme. The children are situated over 8 different locations. Just getting to some of these places is very difficult. It is wonderful to see the difference the sponsorship scheme makes.
