Oh how much we had to squeeze into the last day.
It started taking another group of children to see the Conservation Centre (Zoo – to you and me) where there are animals from Tanzania that these children have never seen before. It was great! The zoo keeper even let us into the cages. Not the lions! The children got to hod ostrich eggs. On theway home we stopped for Sambusas (Swahili for Samosas!) for lunch with sodas and then played team games. It was an extraordinary day in these children's lives…. and ours!
Suddenly… we realised we should have got money out of the bank and we were running out of time. We needed it to pay the bills at the Karibuni. Would we make it. Yes… but only just.
Then back to Airport centre to interview more sponsored children, take their photos, help them write a letter or draw a picture for their sponsor. We pray with each child because… as you can probably work out … they need far more help than a bit of sponsorship can give them. They need our good God to turn up, turn bad things for good, and get things to turn out well for them! Without him all our money and effort will lead to nothing much better than they already have. Some of the team also went to install some solar lighting. We are getting quite good at these practical things now!
Then it was back to the Karibuni, pay the bills, pack ready to catch the early bus in the morning, and let our heads hit the pillow.
Tomorrow…. yes it is 13 hours or more on a bus right across Tanzania back to Dar. Pray for our bladders to need to go at the right times!
