Pays for small things needed in order for a Watu wa Maana child to move in with a family.

Every child should have a home to live in and a family to live with. Watu wa Maana’s purpose is see each child finding healing from the trauma of living on the streets and then find them a safe home and loving family where they can thrive. This might be with their parents, a adult sibling’s family, an aunt/uncle or into a foster home. This process is called reintegration.

Reintegrating a child has costs. Watu wa Maana employs a social worker who visits homes to assess their suitability. The house often needs another bed, a mattress, a mosquito net or a lock put on a door. Sometimes adding a simple wall can give a child a private space. Often there is a need for a decent long drop toilet or shower room. Other children can only move to the right house if they given funds to pay for a school bus, to get them to the school where they have been doing well. Little things can make a big difference!

This “alternative gift” starts at only £20, but you could give much more. 100% will be spent on these kinds of costs for the next child who will benefit from them. Whatever you give will be used strategically. Every child’s needs are different and targeted funds for simple items can mean they move out of institutional life and become part of a family.
