Great day here in Tanzania. The school group from Park School did a fab job helping at various feeding programmes. Then rose well to the challenge of finding traditional Tanzanian fabric in the market. A local tailor measured each student for a garment. But the Tanzanian children really sum up the day… each Park School student had at least one child holding onto their finger!!

Today in Tanzania is food day. All the 2500 children come together within their locations for lunch. The team helped with washing hands and handing out food. The beginnings of painting a mural has started as many helped prim the walls ready for the masterpiece. Then it was learning to dance Tanzanian style. Some great moves were seen!

An amazing time was had at two local secondary schools today in Tanzania. Great to see students from two different countries with such different cultures and expectations learning together. Subject matter: tapeworms, with real tapeworms!! Other activities included collecting and delivering chickens to families in need. Handling chickens was a new experience for many of the young people. Also more children were enrolled on the child sponsorship scheme ( https://www.grassroots.org.uk/sponsor/). And then there was the painting of the walls for the new feeding programme. The mural has began. Busy day. Very busy. But also happy.

Enrolling new children into the Grassroots child sponsorship scheme today. Each child (along with their parent or carer) was interviewed. They were then weighed, measured and a couple of photographs taken. Some sad stories. All are in need of someone to stand with them, pray for them and support them so that they have enough to eat, a reasonable education and the medical, emotional and pastoral help to grow up strong enough to make the most of life.

Last day in Mbeya for Park Community School. They have made some new friends and will be missed. Today they accompanied children to the local conservation park. Great to see the children enjoying the animals. Later the young people received delivery of their new clothes, made to measure in one of Mbeya’s markets. A lot of fun!

Time for Park Community School to leave Mbeya and begin the long trip back to UK via the beach in Dar es Salaam.

Get in touch if you would like to bring a group to Tanzania.
