Orison continues this week in Ealing’s secondary schools.
Today we had our first of two days at William Perkin CofE High School. The school has an open admission s policy and so the students were of different faith backgrounds. One student wanted to ask God ‘what is your name? God, Guru Nanak, Allah or Jesus?’
As students walked past the space, they looked confused by the transformation of the learning resource centre. We had 4 yr7 classes. When they came in for their sessions they were keen to get stuck in and try everything. They wanted more time in the space.
Students asked profound and heart wrenching questions – I pray the fact God knows them & the meaning of the hand activity sinks in.
It is quite something to realise that you are praying in the physical centre of the school and because of the layout of the building, the sound of the prayer space would drift around the whole school.
Student quotes of the day:
‘It was epic’
‘It helped me connect with God’
Bring on tomorrow!!
