Today Stuart has joined Sharon, Jo and Ligia as they visit the children Grassroots sponsors in their homes.
Each family has been identified by BENITA (the Romanian Christian charity that is Grassroots' partner – who work closely with Romanian social services) as in particular need.
This family live in a small village. The Dad & Mum of this family met in an orphanage. When they left the home at 18, they were not given any money, just sent on their way. (This practise has not changed) They lived under bridges etc.
They are lovely and now have 7 children. Work is still hard as even now people do not want to employ ex children's home people.
They struggle to pay the £10 per month rent. When asked if they had any livestock they smiled and said, "We hope one day."
Chickens only cost £3 per hen. Alternative gifts can really help change people's lives in Romania.
The children were so lovely and polite. Without sponsorship this family could not afford to send their children to school.
