Thank you for your prayers for the team visiting Good Neighbours and Watu wa Maana (Theta and Ruiru, near Nairobi, Kenya) this week.
It has been remarkably hard and disturbing work. The dust in Theta just sticks in the back of the throat. There is a burst of energy and noise when we arrive at El Shaddai Primary School and it feels great fun. But then we interview each children (with a guardian and translator) and hear their stories, the terrible poverty, and health problems and so much awful stuff. When we finally leave the centre and head back on the 30 min cross country car ride to the convent (where we stay – full of bouyant nuns! :)) we are feeling completely drained and quite sad. Somehow all we have heard puts into perspective the fact that the water in the convent has not worked all week! Feeling rather grubby!
Each evening we are using our time to type into our computer (see Elsbeth hard at work in the picture) what we have heard from the children so that we can send it to those who sponsor them – and pray for them! Sponsorship makes a massive difference. But there are some things they need that only God can give them!
Please pray for our hosts at Good Neighbours and El Shaddai Primary School – George and Grace. It is hard being here for a week but they serve sacrificially 52 weeks a year.
