In the past there have been a number of aid agencies working in the Mbeya area. We have been glad of this as the load has been shared. However due to lack of funding and the worldwide recession most have left the area.
Richard (Grassroots Tanzania’s director) tells us that more children are coming to him each day asking for help as their parents are now unable to send them to school.
The poverty in some areas is increasing and many children are not getting regular meals. It is not uncommon for a child to eat only every other day. This is a big challenge for us.
We have lined up a number of new centers we would like to open, however we have over 200 children we are already supporting who do not have a sponsor.
Could we please ask you to consider becoming a Grassroots ambassador by talking to some of your friends about sponsorship, putting a notice in your work place or giving a notice in your church.
We continue to thank God for his provision. We have been able to go on supporting these children even without sponsors by some people giving “sponsorship plus” – which is what we call giving more than your sponsorship amount. Thank you to all of you who do this.
Let me know if you require sponsorship forms to give to those interested.
