Announcing the football tournament that will support Archie and Grassroots to travel to Romania and build a house for a family in great need.
In 1996 Sharon and Hugo Anson set up Grassroots to help and support families in many countries around the world. Their most recent venture has been building house for very poor families in Romania – something started by Lawrie Gardner and a group from the Canterbury area. After a few housebuilds that were funded from the UK Grassroots decided to go one step further and in 2010 a group of 4 people traveled over there to help with the building.Since then a series of houses have been build and teams from the UK have gone over to help.
In 2012, the task was to build a single story house for a family who were living in a small shack. The house they had was a small wood frame with plastic sheeting to keep out the rain, cold, damp and snow. Unliveable… and UNBELIEVABLE! But the team – including some Brits, volunteers from the local Romanian Christian church and members of the family being helped – set to work. THIS to THIS in a Week! 
In 2012 Archie knew that he wanted to visit Romania and support the charity, so he wrote to Sharon Anson and asked if he could travel with her and his Grandad. She said ‘YES’, so Archie’s fundraising began. Talks at clubs & school, bauble trees, non-uniform day and much more that Archie has completed to help him fund his trip and also pay towards the house…
Now 7 months later, Archie is now here with 20 teams to enjoy a day of football and fun. Archie is a great lover of sports and especially football so today is his biggest event, and the one he has been excited about from the start. Archie will be traveling to Romania in September 2013 for a week. Enjoy the day!
