This has been a sentence written a lot as we have been inputting the children’s details ready to send out sponsorship packs. It’s amazing to see how children improvise: dusty ground becomes an art pad; a corn husk becomes a doll; a used battery becomes the trunk of a toy car.
Inspired by the work of photographer Jessica Hilltout, the children of St Nicholas Radstock Pre-School (who are linked with the Milk Programme in Mabatini, Mbeya) have been making footballs Tanzanian style, by scrunching plastic bags, wrapping them around each other and tying them in place with string. Now the children can play football!
What a great way of teaching children in the UK about the realities of life for so many in Africa!
