Transforming Tanzanian Communities
-
12 November, 2009
The new cookhouse in Nyibuko is fantastic. This is where all the children who are sponsored in this community come for the weekly meal, Christian club and medical appointments. The sponsorship programme here is still new and we have done it at the same time as the Christians have started meeting to worship. The combination of practical help and spiritual life has really started to impact the areaAirport, Nyibuko and Mwangelwa were the locations today.
Nyibuko was particularly fun. The church has just started there and does not have a building yet, so they will also use the cook house to meet in until they can add another building.
In Mwanjelwa... it rained! Through that complication the team managed to continue. This is a very poor community, but the people there are so good at showing how happy they are to see us. They come up and hug and smile and sing. We visuted the land... which will be used for the new kitchen etc, and it is being cleared and beginning to take shape. The crowd of sponsorship children and their families gathered around and we gave out loads of jumpers and blankets and teddies. In the middle of all the excirement one of the team fell flat on her face in the mud. She's Ok... and wants to tell who she is herself rather than this blog do it!
Tomorrow we move on to Mabatini and Swaya. It will all kik off with a Ringtone concert. Remarkable connection he has with people. So glad he came!
regarding the rain:

Hi all you amazing people.
Its great to hear news of the work in Niyabuko and the impact it is making on the community. I will never forget the excitement I felt as I stood on that piece of land in May.
Sorry to hear you are still troubled by the rain and the complications it creates for the interviewing process.
God bless you all for the tremendous work you are doing.
Love and prayers from Marilyn
