Phew....

11 November, 2011
Phew what a day!!!! I am writing this in between power cuts on a very busy day in Mbeya. With 4 centres to visit and over 453 children to interview today, it was always going to be a challenge. Breakfast was at 7am as usual, followed by a time of prayer before leaving for the various locations at 8.30am.
However that was when a disturbance occured on the street - which resulted in fighting between the police and street vendors. This was very disturbing as people were hurt and one man was shot dead. Fires where lit and peace loving Tanzania became a dangerous place for a while.
We were all safe but it added many travelling hours to our day. In fact the new location we were opening in Uyole felt like a trek accross the mountains rather then a gentle ride down the tarmac road! We were worried that we would not get to this new centre, which was a major priority as the people are in great need and the Pastor had promised the people we would come. They started to wait for us at 10am and we arrived at 4:30pm!!! What a privilege to meet with this community and share a little of their lives.
The last team members arrived hungry back at base at 7:30 pm ish to be told that there was no food. But how can we complain when most of the children only eat one meal per day - or less!
So, at the end of another day, we have now taken on 417 new children. Each one needs a sponsor.
The team are a little weary and an earlier night is very welcome. (There are some joys in having no electricity!) Another early start tomorrow as we interview the secondary students and hopefully (if things have become more settled in Mbeya) we can get to a few "star times" (feeding programmes).
Thank you for praying! Wish you were here!
God bless
Sharon

Happy birthday mum! We hope that today is slightly less scary.
