Farewell Mbeya
-
26 May, 2010
At last we are packing to leave Mbeya. Strange day. A little bitty. Some of the team bought matresses and delivered them to families with children who have HIV. These children had been sleeping on the floor. Very moving.
Visited Pambogo Primary School. They are linked to Rowledge Primary School in the UK and regularly send each other things that have been prepared. Each class was VERY HAPPY to receive pictures from each year of Rowledge.
Then we went to Airport Primary School. We discussed the possibility of linking to a UK school. Very excited.
We all then went to Richard & Neema's house for a farewell meal; which was wonderful. The house was recently burnt and we have been concerned for them. Fire damage still very obvious. It was a miracle they escaped.
Finally we all went off to the land which is being divided into allotments for the very poor.
On the way back we checked in on the new multipurpose centre (drop in, medical, library, etc) and saw that the foundations were now in place.
Then a brief visit to the petrol station to meet again the girl who was collecting money for programmes that feed orphans. She is now definitely coming to see feeding programme next Friday. Great that some of the support for the work is now coming from those who can afford it locally!
Up early to get bus to Dar. 12 hours. In and out of text range so don't get worried if you don't hear from us. Pray that we get a good safe driver!
What amazing people you are. You have achieved so much in the last two weeks. Praying you will have a safe journey home with lots of memories of your time in Mbeya.
June and I have been to City College Norwich today. Lovely display of Grassroots Tanzania in the foyer for all to see. Lots of interest and people have been very generous.
Can't wait to see you Elsbeth and Carol and hear all the details of the trip.
Love from Marilyn xx
what a fantastic amount you have all achieved in the last two weeks. praying for you all on the journey home, hope it is a good driver and the traffic in Dar is light.
safe journey, looking forward to seeing Elsbeth to catch up soon and also Sharon too.
Everyone is now back home safely. Watch this space for more information about the urgent need for more child sponsors!
