What
Malawi, known as the ‘warm heart of Africa’is a small country with an estimated population of 15 million. It is one of the ten poorest countries in the world with an average life expectancy of 37 years. There is a great problem with malaria and AIDS, with many children orphaned and living in great poverty. It is also a very beautiful country and the local people are very friendly.

Grassroots in Malawi is working alongside The Revival Pentecostal Church in Samuti Village. A nursery school for 81 pre school children is the main project. This provides a basic education through play and educational toys. The children receive a well balanced lunch and drinks. Grassroots now supports the local primary school. This is free to attend but they have very few resources available. We also support the education of some secondary school students. Many cannot afford the compulsory fees. They also have to provide their own exercise/text books, pens and uniforms. Dzanja la Chifundo is an orphanage in Bvumbwe where we live and help the director and his wife with the day to day running. As well as the resident children there is a feeding centre and pre-school on site.

Who Les & Kathie Craske felt the call of God on their lives to go and help the children and families in this very poor area. Now there are so many more people involved!
