Steelroots Youth Community in south-west Sheffield is running a Big Brother House to raise money to sponsor Tanzanian Young People through secondary school. The idea is for 7 lads (aged 16-19) to be secluded from the world for 5 days to maintain round-the-clock prayer and complete various fun challenges and tasks. Live footage from the house will be streamed on our website: http://steelroots.org.uk/big-brother every evening as well as recorded video diary entries and a daily update video of the challenges and journey of their enterprise.
The idea emerged from a realisation among the young people of the priviledged nature of their upbringing and the area they live in.
The whole community is using the Big Brother event as a way of raising a load of money to help enable other young people in a less privileged part of the world to have some of the same opportunities we have here in England.
You can meet the housemates and read more information - as well as the live stream page at http://steelroots.org.uk or our facebook page on http://facebook.com/steelrootsbigbrother - and follow our updates on http://twitter.com/steelrootsBB
dates in the house: 18th-22nd July
target: £1800 = 10 secondary school sponsorships for very poor young people in Tanzania more information here
