We're back!!

11 February, 2010
Hello!!So we are finally back from all the Christmas festivities and back into the swing of things here in Tenerife.
It is really exciting to actually be back here for good now as a member of the long term team! I have felt God's call on my life to be doing this kind of work for such a long time now and sometimes can't believe I am actually here walking that out! I already feel a part of the working community here and have made some good friendships with some of the girls out here who I am looking forward to investing into and spending more time with over this next year!
Also working out here for three months with us is Charlotte. Charlotte worked with The Living Room for a week back in March and has taken a short career break to move back out here and join in with the work. It is great to have another girl out on the streets as there are so many girls here that need someone to befriend them, get alongside them and to love and care for them. Please pray that God will go ahead of Charlotte and open up opportunities for her to minister to the girls here in that way.
There has been plenty of amazing stuff going on in The Living Room over the last few weeks and we have seen God answer many of our prayers.
A young girl who is very vulnerable began to come up to the centre just before Christmas and was very shy, unconfident and socially uncomfortable. She clearly needed to be loved. We have prayed for her and her family situation, which is not good, a lot and whilst feeling quite helpless really have just loved her and spent time getting to know her. It is incredible how much of an impact this has had on her. She has really come out her shell and is much more confident, much happier and enjoys hanging out and having a laugh with us. She has expressed an interest in improving her educational situation and we have been establishing contact with her Mum to help her achieve this. Her mum even commented to us how different she was recently. It always amazes me how right Jesus was in his command to "just love each other". Loving people really can be the best cure. She has been coming to church with us too so please pray that she will experience God's presence and love there.
Also this week, one of the homeless guys we have known for a while made the decision to go into rehab and we took him up this week. We are thrilled that he has made such a positive step towards sorting himself out and all remember with a secret flicker of excitement that it was just such a step that set Steve, Scott, John and others, on their journey towards realising Christ as their Saviour. Please pray that O will be next :)
Our God is an awesome God and we are praying that he moves in awesome ways this week, especially within the workers and PR community. We would really like to see him breakthrough into these young people's lives. Please pray that we will have God's favour both in the centre and out on the streets this week.
Love Rachel and Team :) :)
